Four people have died and 11 are in the hospital in Kilifi, Kenya, after starving themselves in an attempt to see Jesus on the alleged orders of their preacher, according to reports. Three of those in the hospital are in critical condition. 😲🏥

Police in Nairobi attempted to rescue the suspected religious cult members from a forest where they were fasting on April 13, as reported by Capital News. 👮🌳

The group was said to have been brainwashed by the leader of the Good News International Church, Makenzie Nthenge, who is also known as Paul Makenzie Nthenge. 🧠💦🕍

The Standard reported that in 2019, Nthenge said he would close down the church due to multiple legal issues. He faced charges of disobeying the law, religious incitement, and indoctrination of children, which he denied. ❌⚖️

Nthenge told The Standard, “The message has already been delivered, and I’m closing the ministry and the TV station by the end of November.” 📺⛪️
